We are a social justice organization and our vision and mission require the work of dedicated, bold and skilled leaders, educators, and support staff who are committed to serving as the catalyst for joyful, academically excellent schools and the foundation for building a more just and equitable world for our scholars.Job DescriptionEverything rises and falls on leadership (Maxwell, 2007) and the success of a school rests in the Principal’s ability to inspire, empower, and guide the school community towards a common vision of academic excellence, equity, and success for all scholars. The K-8 Principal must possess strong leadership skills to drive academic outcomes for all scholars across the campus. The Principal is expected to dedicate the majority of their time to instructional leadership, focusing on developing and supporting teachers to enhance their instructional methods and improve scholar achievement. Additionally, the Principal must cultivate a pipeline of future leaders and create systems for continuous staff development to establish sustainable organizational growth. The ability to set and execute a shared vision for campus alignment and build cohesive practices between the primary and middle school levels is essential for success in this role.Job Responsibilities:Set and articulate ambitious school-wide vision and goals that lead scholars on a path to a choice-filled lifeDevelop and implement strategic plan to close the gap between the school’s current performance and annual goalsEstablishes a clear vision for excellent school culture and regularly articulates this vision to leaders, scholars, staff, and familiesActively develops school culture where classrooms are joyful and engaging and continually evaluates the school’s culture through proactive, scheduled monitoringLead analysis of and develop leaders and teachers’ ability to analyze student data to identify strategies that will move scholars toward masteryCultivate a diverse, high-potential leadership pipeline and develop leadership team members by teaching and insisting that they are true owners of the work and coaching and assigning stretch activitiesDevelop leaders and teachers to provide rigorous and high quality instructionDevelop systems and structures to hire, develop and retain a diverse, highly-effective staffBuild one’s own and school staff’s knowledge and expertise in effective instructional design and academic standardsRegularly observe and coach instructional leaders to ensure they are providing high-impact, actionable and bite-sized feedback to teachers on a weekly basisLead whole-school professional development that drives highest-impact improvements in teacher practiceSet the operational vision for the school, including finance, facilities, technology, student recruitment, family services, risk management and complianceCultivate one’s own success and sustainability by engaging lifelines and renewing to get strongerQualificationsBachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferredA minimum of three years teaching and leadership experience in an underserved communityDemonstrated scholar achievement results from teachers and leaders that he/she manages and coachesDemonstrated success in developing leadership capacity in othersDemonstrated resilience and focus on scholar outcomesAbility to set direction across an entire school and motivate others to actionHave a passion for being a part of a team-oriented, mission-driven school cultureDemonstrate commitment to closing the opportunity gapLeverage strong communication and relationship-building skillsBe a collaborative team playerDemonstrate a high level of integrity in decision-makingPass a criminal background checkAdditional InformationCompensation & Benefits:Compensation for this role is between $145,000 and $155,000. The starting pay will depend on various factors that may include but are not limited to professional experience, education, training, and certifications.
